The Beach at Atlantis is a private stretch of sand at the grand resort on Paradise Island, rated by experts such as the gurus of the Travel Channel as one the top 10 beaches in the world. Certainly it’s one of the best stretches of beach on New Providence and Grand Bahama Islands. But there are some spots in the Out Islands that are worth checking out too.
Unfortunately, unless you’re staying at Atlantis, the beautiful beach is off-limits. If you are staying there, you’ll find the section of beach close to the hotel complex is crowded most of the time. Walk the half-mile or so to the far end of the horseshoe-shaped bay where the sand is pure and white and often there’s lots of room to spread out.
If you’re not staying at Atlantis, there are a number of smaller beaches dotted around Paradise Island; Cabbage Beach is one of the nicest, but also try Smugglers Beach, Shell Beach, and Honeymoon Cove. Ask any of the local taxi drivers to take you.
